I have regularly used a plotter to print out my family tree. The plotter is
just another printer (which you install in the same way as any other
printer) and then you can select the various paper formats including (for
the plotter I was using) up to A0 size. This sounds great, and it is - for
small family trees. The software I use (FTM) doesn't make the moving of
branches around on a page very easy as the default is a long horizontal line
for each generation which doesn't really reflect the closeness of family
members. So I end up with several A0 pieces that I have to stick together in
the time-honoured fashion!

However, I remain hopeful that my knowledge of how to use a plotter will
improve - and that the next version of the software might make it easier to
produce a presentation quality tree.

Michael.
