Hello,
I personally have not heard of a place called Herrick in Essex, though there
may be one. I wonder if it could be Harwich? Harwich certainly appears
over 900 times in the 1881 Census (CD ROM version) as "Harwick", so I
wouldn't be surprised to see it mis-spelled as "Herrick" somewhere.
