The Gazetteer of the Essex Society for Family History doesn't list a
Plumstead or a Plumstead Common in Essex. There is a place called Plumstead
in Kent, which is close to the River Thames, so not far from Essex. It is
about 4 miles northeast of Greenwich, and about 45 miles southwest of
Stanway, Essex. There is another Plumstead in Norfolk, about 70 miles
north of Stanway, but a "Google" search for "Plumstead Common" only brings
up references to the Plumstead in Kent, or as it is now, in one of the
London Boroughs. I wonder what you looked at on Genuki which gave you the
impression it might have been in Essex?
