Hiya,

I have in a sessions book of 1799-1833:

William Hudgell of Sabridgeworth (yes I know Hertfordshire) labourer, for steeling 2 hurdles, value 1s., and ten pieces of wood, value 1s., from Thomas Chapman; Hudgell had previously been convicted of felony. )Three months in the bridewell and whipped)

What is a a bridewell???

Boy am I finding some naughty Hudgells.
