I wonder if anyone can offer a suggestion...

On marriage registers there will often be entries of the form: John
Smith of Writtle married Mary Jones of Blackmore.

Now, my understanding is that John wasn't necessarily born in Writtle,
he simply stated that, at the time of the marriage, he was living there.

So, my question, how do we record such information in our computer
programs?

I use Legacy, so specifics for that program would be helpful, but other
suggestions would be welcome.
