Hi, Pam

If they wanted to call Emmeline Minnie they certainly could. (They
could even call her Humphrey if they were so inclined.) The usual
thing, though, would be to call her Emmie. Minnie was generally
short for Wilhelmina or possibly Minerva.

These things aren't logical, but think if you had a little girl named
Emmeline, what would you call her as a pet name?
