Diane,

To my mind, if the person co-ordinating Essex can't be bothered to some
himself - why should I?

Cheers

Subject: 1891 Census

Hi List-Members!

Quite new to this Hobby, I stumbled over the following project today:

http://freecen.rootsweb.com/

I don't know if this project is well known or not, but even if so, a project
of such scale and effort is well worth mentioning.

I knew about FreeBMD, as I am already transcribing for it, but this was new
to me, so excited I had a look at the stats page for Essex:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~newbury/ess.htm

only to find that nothing is there yet. I only just ordered the fiche for
1891 Census for Tendring (RG12/1402 Harwich & Dovercourt) today at my FHC
here in Bremerhaven, but time limits at the FHC, transcription for FreeBMD
and my coming up diploma will most probably not contribute much to me being
able to transcribe too much for FreeCEN.

Are there any volenteers on this list willing to get a start on things and
slowly help fill that stats page? Or any people who have already made
transcriptions of parts of Essex who would share there results with the
project?

Just a thought, you don't have to volunteer of course, but even if you can't
do much every little helps.

Greetings from Germany
Diane Lord
