Thank you everyone, for your prompt replies.
I made a big "boo boo",didn't I. I said, re. Daniel DIXEY, who was born 1855, that his father Daniel DIXEY ,who I am trying to find re. marriage, and birth, as married in 1844. SORRY it should have been 1854.
I guess I will have to wait untill your Censuses are complete to find this.
Kevin has sent some DIXEY surnames from his Essex database, 6 in all, so I will have to do some investigating. I don't recognise anyone at this stage, Kevin, so I don't think they can be my DIXEY family, but you never know.
Kevin sent a Samuel (Boxted) Joseph(Bocking) Elizabeth(Boxted) Dorothy(Borley)
These range from 1812-1826, so I guess there is a possibility that these could be my forebears.
I can see I have a long way to go, as I am now 70yrs old, I am wishing so much I had started this many years ago, especially when then, there would have been some relatives still alive, to ask questions of and get some answers. Still, as the old saying goes, it's never too late.
Thank you all once again,
Looking forward to hearing any more news.
Mavis.
