You have all been extremely helpful, and I guess I'll just try all of the
counties you've mentioned...although I've searched the churches in
Burnham-in-Sea, Somerset to pieces at the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Family
History Library to no avail. A research supervisor at the library did pull
out an old map and suggested that "Kingsland", where my ancestor stated he
was living in 1849, may have been near London in "Middlesex" at that time.
The other big clue, I am guessing, is that the "Burnham" where Pierce KENDALL
said he was born in 1834 (or possibly 1839) and the "Kingsland" where he was
living when he filled out the Application to be an Apprentice Merchant Marine
in London in 1849, could not all be too far apart for a child to be traveling
from place to place.
Taking your very professional suggestions, I will subscribe to the other
counties you have mentioned at Rootsweb if they have a site, that is...as
well as "Essex", of course.
After all, I've made a lot of friends here!
