Hello
I am Nan Wallace and I have been searching for my G.Grand father Joseph
Simms/Sims for what seems like forever
I live in lovely Adelaide and I spend a lot of time on my computor just
looking for my Joseph
He was in Australia from 1853 and lived in Moonta South Australia from
1865c.-1907
He was a pioneer in the Fishing industry in S.A. and raised 7 sons who were
mainly on the sea.
I have found he had come from Essex in 1853
He was in South Australia from 1865- 1907 but need to find him in U.K
Firstly he was born 1833c. and I wondered if any one had access to 1851or
41 Census
The big problem is I don't know exactly where in Essex he came from???
I do know he was connected to the sea and that he may have been sent to
Australia for smuggling
Perhaps if Police records from the early 1800's were available could
someone on this list be able to look up Joseph Simms/Sims
The following names could be connected to him

Bacon
McFarlane
Freemantle
Conduit
Martin

Thank you from Nan Wallace (nee Simms) in Adleride
