Hi Colleen,

It *is* in Essex according to the Phillimore Atlas and Index of Parish
Registers. The PR's date from 1538.

Do not allow later county boundary changes confuse you! <grin>

Family historians go by the founding of a church for the placement of
parishes in counties. I guess it only *moved* to Suffolk in the 20th
(possibly 19th) century. Likewise the "loss" of parts of Western Essex to
London - West Ham etc.##HTH.
