The description of Turpin's doings on the site Karen posted seem largely to
be based on information gleaned from 'The Newgate Calendar' which contains
more detailed information of his depredations. It also includes a physical
description of him, issued at the time of the announcement of the £100
reward for his capture, as well as the content of the letter to his brother
which led to his identification. The 'Calendar' contains details of many
infamous crimes and their perpetrators including William Corder, of the 'Red

Note: There are various editions of the Newgate Calendar each containing
different cases. I understand that this 'Exclassics' version combines all
editions.
