Nothing like a little roll call to stifle the dissidents.
My interest in Essex-UK is simple. I'm looking for links to Motts who
are found in the colonies. I am pretty much tapped out on the
uncle/nephew Adam Motts of Saffron Waldon who ended up in NY and Rhode
Island. I've got much less info on two other families.
Nathaniel Mott (married to Hannah Shooter) found in Scituate in 1647
as an adult old enough to be on a militia list. He was probably born
around 1630. But how did he get there? Who were his parents? Some people
think he was related to the Adam Motts but I've seen no proof of that.
Most of his family ended up in Westerly and Block Island (Rhode Island)
and/or Connecticut.
The MOTTs of Bocking - I refer to them as the Mark Mott Family. Did
any of them other than Dorothy Mott come over? Has there been any proof
that they are related to the Saffron Walden family?
I'm looking for new avenues to look for my New Jersey Motts who have
not linked to any of the others yet. Since I've not found a line in the
colonies yet, looking for that original immigrant and his family seems
kind of fruitless. However, we do what we can -- perhaps something will
pop up eventually. It just seems to me that there had to be more Motts
come over than the two Adams.
Many thanks ----- Rich in the colonies ()
