Subject: HAMBLY in Essex
Date: Tue, 07 Jan 2003 22:27:26 GMT
A recent visit to the 1901 census website has revealed a whole new group of
HAMBLYs in my tree that I was unaware of.
They are living in Sewardstone - a hamlet in the Epping / Chingford area of
Essex UK; previously they were in Walthamstow, Chingford, Mile End East
London, and Deptford or Greenwich in Kent.
Richard HAMBLY aged 42 working in the Enfield gun factory
Alice Emma HAMBLY his wife, aged 37
Caroline HAMBLY, daughter aged 13
Richard HAMBLY, son aged 10
George HAMBLY, son aged 8
Guy HAMBLY, son aged 6
Victor (actually Albert Victor Francis) HAMBLY , son aged 5
Sidney (actually Sidney Valentine) HAMBLY, son aged 3
Alice Emma HAMBLY was originally Alice Emma GOVETT but she also seems to
have married a second time to a Mr WATKINS.
Sidney Valentine HAMBLY appears in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
Roll of Honour as having been killed at the Battle of Loos in France in WW1
and I suspect he didn't marry as e died at the age of 20.
Does anyone know anything more about any members of this family? I think
Richard's father William HAMBLY probably came from Cornwall.
