A bit off topic, but if you have trouble getting rid of your family and friends after the Christmas party and even the mention of your five times great granny fails to move them or, most importantly, stop them finishing off your beer and best malt whisky, suggest party games and try to see if they can guess how many people have their own surname and can estimate how popular it is in comparison with others. This is a database of surnames for England, Wales and the Isle of Man (sorry not much use to those overseas or North of the Border) provided by the Office of National Statistics and is relevant as at September 2002 (with a few minor amendations as described on the home page). It contains 269,353 surnames representing 54,412,638 people and guaranteed to clear your house within minutes.

Out of interest, only 38 of us Loxdales alive and kicking, being the 60,264th most (un)popular surname.
