Ridiculous is the right word, Colleen. It is a classic example of the
mistranscriptions which should never occur if there has been any kind of
"quality control" on the 1901 project. Surely any checker worthy of the
job should have realised that it meant STATION SERGEANT, MET(ropolitan)
POLICE.
