Would anyone have an interest in either of the above surnames. Strictly
speaking they were not in Essex as far as I am aware, but someone on the
list may know of the family.

I have a William SHEPARD, according to family written record ( I do not know
if the date is absolutely correct) was born 9th January 1791. Died 28th
September 1843, buried at Kensal Green.
Married at St.James Church, Westminster, County of Middlesex, 1st June 1819,
Mary Ann STARIE (Born 21st December 1794)
Mary Ann STARIE's parents were John & Theodosia (GATEHOUSE) STARIE.
John STARIE was born Stoke Prior, Hereford, Christened in Humber. He died
at Leominster, Hereford. I believe Theodosia remarried a John BRADFORD,
probably of Leominster.

I do not know where William was born, or who his parents were. I am
wondering if anyone has that information. Do your Death Certificates give
that information?
According to a copy of a Baptism Record at Stanmore Church, a son, William
was christened No.287, July (what looks like 19 - the 9 looks like an
unfinished P, but No.287 is between 19th and 23rd July) William son of
William and Mary Ann SHEPHERD (HERD crossed out and ARD put in. Harrow
Weald Servant A R Chauvel.

I gather they would have lived at Harrow Weald until about 1827/28 when the
fourth child was born in 1828, Christened at St. Giles Church, Longacre,
London July 1828, the fifth child was also Christrened at St.Giles, as was
the 6th, then the 7th child was Christened at St. James Church, Westminster
in 1834.

The SHEPARD children were William, John, Mary Ann, Henry, Maria Susan,
George, George James, and Harriet.
George James wrote his name as James on his son's apprenticeship papers in
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
John was a Queen's Messenger.
