Hello Everyone

Although I originally come from Essex, my parents and ancestors came from East London, so although I've "browsed" the archives from time to time, I've only just subscribed to the List - because I have a problem that someone out there may be able to help me with!

Recent research has found that G Grandfather Thomas HAWKER married Esther HOVELL at Hackney in 1874. Searching the area for possible relatives in the 1881 Census, found a possible brother - Thomas HOVELL - his birthplace being recorded as "Enningham, Essex".

I have searched several maps and gazeteers, but there is no sign of an Enningham anywhere! Does anyone know where it is or was? Failing that, any suggestions as to what it may have been mistranscribed from? Any suggestions welcomed, as I've run out of ideas!
