You don't say which census this is from, so I can't reconcile the dates of birth.

The 1839 marriage certificate of Henry DRAIN (labourer) and Hester WEST (servant) is a
family document and their surnames are spelt "DRAINE", but they were both illiterate!
Henry's father is Daniel DRAINE, labourer (also illiterate)
and witness Jane DRAINE (also illiterate)
Hester's father is James WEST, labourer

Their daughter is Esther Ann DRAIN on her 1867 marriage certificate (a GRO copy)
and her father is Henry DRAIN, labourer

Ester's daughter is Edith Gertrude BAILEY on her 1871 birth certificate (a GRO copy)
and her mother is Esther Elizabeth Ann BAILEY (formerly DRAIN)

To further confuse matters, when I visited the Family Records Centre recently, I obtained
a 5 March 1843 birth certificate for Eliza Ann DRAIN born at Rippleside in the parish of
Barking.
Eliza's father is George DRAIN, labourer
Eliza's mother is Eliza Ann DRAIN (formerly WEST)

So not only can't they spell, but they keep changing their names!

I think the answer may lie in the 1851 census, if you have access to it. By 1861 I think
Esther Elizabeth Ann DRAIN had moved to Putney, Surrey
