On a marriage certificate from 1899 the parish is given as Victoria Docks. This marriage took place at St Lukes church Custom House London E.16. Does anyone have any knowledge of when the parish name was changed?
Also, does anyone have an old street index of London and essex and can look up a street for me?
It was in Custom House, and the writing on the certificate is poor, but it could be either TONRY or IONRY St, Custom House London E16 ?circa 1899.
I have never heard of this street before..but many streets were destroyed in the 1st and 2nd world wars. I went to the old maps uk site..fascinating, but a) 1882 ?too early..and b) the writing was very difficult to read, and many streets just didnt exist or were not named in the old maps.
curioser and curioser...
regards
