Hi Ruth,

For some reason, the LDS files over the internet do not appear to contain all the material which is available on the computers in the Family History Centres. I don't know why. Also there are parishes whose Parish REgisters have not been indexed which have not been on the IGI. If you know the parish they come from, it would pay you to visit the Family History Catalogue and find out whether the Parish Records have been filmed. You can then order them from the FH Centre nearest to you.
If the parish is not listed, I suggest you ask the Essex people on the net whether they in fact exist. Some parishes have never handed in their registers. This applies particularly in London. I know, as i do all my research long-range from NZ and I have to employ someone in London to look them up.
