Hello, I'm a new lister, living in New Zealand.
I'm researching the name WASKETT, which is apparently an old Essex name.
I'm interested in:
1. The origin of the name and where it was first used.
2. My own family. My G4 grandfather was ROBERT WASKETT (whose name
changed to WARSKITT when he arrived in London, presumably because of his
accent). He was born in Great Baddow, the son of WILLIAM and HANNAH, in
about 1796. I can't find a marriage for the couple and would very much
like to trace the family back further. I also can't find the name of
ROBERT'S wife, or when and where they married.
3. The family of SIR FRANCIS WASKETT (confirmed a KCB in 1819) of
Pentlow Hall (which I can't find - has it changed its name?). The
knighthood has now lapsed, and I can't find him in the Burke's
references that I have access to, except 'The General Armory'. The IGI
says he was the son of JOHN and ELIZABETH nee FLOWER(S), born in 1789 in
Norwich, and he married JANE MYERS in Suffolk in 1815.
4. The farm, 'Great Wasketts', near Basildon.
Can anyone out there help me, please?
Mary
