Dear Listers
I am posting my interests and would be delighted to receive an email from anyone who might have links or information to my family. I apologise for anyone who is on more than one list.
JACQUES Elizabeth, (circ. 1880-1920) was my g.grandmother. She married unknown COOPER and later in life she was known as "Granny COOPER". At some point she worked for a well-to-do family and when retired and living in a room in the Guinness flats opposite Pollock Rd, Near Deacon Street, Southwark they visited her. She died approx. 1920 and was well off, the family fighting over her money. Her known children were:
COOPER Sophia (b. unknown) she married and went to live in Wales
COOPER Male x 2 One might have been called William. They both went to Australia (before WW1) one of them fought for Australia in WW1. They are believed to have started a stud farm over there. It is rumoured that the tennis player of the 1950/60s Ashley Cooper is related.
COOPER Elizabeth (b.abt 1893 D 1944 AGE 58) my grandmother who married Benjamin BALL (abt 1900) BALL Benjamin, (b.circ1860-1880 they lived in the Southwark/Lambeth, London Benjamin hails from Romford/Barking, Essex,
He fought in the 2nd Boer War (1899-1902) and apparently received a pension. When he died (circ.1922) the army (Royal Horse Artillery) paid for his funeral which included his coffin being carried throught the streets on a gun carriage. A place was offered to his two youngest sons at the Duke of York's school for officers but was not taken up. I feel that in view of the action taken by the army he must have been more than the average soldier. Could anyone enlighten me further. Possible previous addresses: County Street or Rodney Road Southwark
Benjamin BALL (b.abt 1903) married Grace WRIGHT and had one son Benjamin BALL (who was a firefighter in WW2 )
Elizabeth BALL (aka Betty) (b. 19 March 1904 d. 1994) married Thomas MILLARD and had two sons, Walter (aka Wally) MILLARD who married Pamela and George MILLIARD who married Pat..

He was married to Maud and they had one daughter Sylvia who I understand married and had a couple of children. When I met him in the 1960s he lived in Balfour Street, near The Angel Islington. They lived near The Angel, Islington
Sophia Rose BALL (aka Rose) (b. abt 1907 d.1994) married George BIBB and they had two boys, Gordon BIBB who married Pat and they had two girls. Douglas (aka Dougie) who married Mercia and they had two children. Rose married for the second time in later life to Robert BUTCHER and lived in Winchester.
