"I am a researcher for Anglia Television working on a new production
called Riddles of the River. We are currently putting together
programmes for the rivers Blackwater & Chelmer and Colne. I am
interested in locals who might be able to tell me a bit of local history regarding industry, culture,
buildings, people of interest.

In particular I am trying to source a gentleman interviewed in 1975 about
smuggling in Salcott-cum-Virley. In the film he mentions a pond or moat
with a wooden bottom used by the smugglers for contraband goods. If you
know anyone who might have local knowledge of this kind - please contact me"
