Hi Joye,
Chances are that the 'Evils" were something like epilepsy, which at the
time, they didn't understand. If someone started having convulsions and
foaming at the mouth, it was considered to be the work of the devil. I may
be wrong, so don't quote me on this, but being an epileptic myself, I know
how this has been referred to in the past.
