Hi Joye,
I should think it refered to "the Kings Evil", or scrofula as we know it, a
dreadful disease which it was said could be cured by the touch of the King.
The monarch of the time used to hold sessions where people could go to be
touched by him in the hope of a cure. Did'nt work needless to say!! For
