Hello all
I am looking for a TOWERZEY family and the Pub where a Mr. TOWERZEY,
first name unknown, was Publican in the period 1890-1950. I do not know the
name of this Pub or it's precise location. It was in Essex or London, perhaps in the part of East
London that used to be Essex.
My ancestral relative, Edith MARSHALL , whose family lived at
Vineyard St. in Colchester until about 1900, married Mr. TOWERZEY, who was said to have been ex-army. The marriage was
probably between 1880 & 1890. I have not been able to find a record of the
marriage. However, I do know that several members of the family subsequently
went to live, or to stay with them at various times, at their Pub during the period in
question. There were apparently several children so perhaps one of them took
over the Pub at some point.
I have already checked The Pubs, Inns and Taverns Index for England, 1801-1900
at http://www.pubsindex.freeserve.co.uk and with
Ian Pubby Hunter at Essex Pubs at: http://www.essexpubs.co.uk to no avail.
Appreciate any leads or suggestions anyone may have might have on either the pub or the TOWERZEY name.
