Keith, Melanie, Jean and Helen,

Thanks guys! From your information, I have come to the conclusion that
my g. grandparents were married in the Mile End east of London, but I
had looked up the registrar's address for the other Mile End (near
Colchester) and that office just passed my request along to the
appropriate office (that was nice of them). I thought it would have
been the Colchester Mile End, as they were born in Thorpe-le-Soken,
which is closer to Colchester than London. Anyway, it only took 3 weeks
to get the certificate - pretty quick.

My g. grandparents settled in Walthamstow and I assume that is close to
Stepney, Mile End Old Town. I think you're right about St. Thomas. I
think they've written St. Thomas's and I had thought the ' was the
dotting of an "i".
