Could anyone please clear up a query I have? I recently ordered a
Marriage Certificate from Essex County Council in Colchester. The films
indicated that the marriage was recorded in the District of Mile End and
I was advised to obtain the certificate from Colchester. However, when
I received the certificate, it said that the marriage was solemnized in
the Parish of Stepney (Mile End Old Town), in the County of Middlesex.
I'm confused, because there are two counties involved. Could someone
try to clear up my confusion. Did I write to the wrong place? Are
there two Mile Ends? Where is Stepney compared to Colchester? Are they
close?
Also, the name of the church is not clear. It looks like St. Thomnis,
Parish of Stepney. Any guesses as to what the church name might be?
I've try to check on the internet, but have had no luck. It would be an
Anglican church.
I appreciate any help. Thanks
