Hi Sandra,
No St.Dagenham as far as I know :-)
Dagenham was an ancient parish with the parish church dedicated to St.Peter
and St.Paul.
Now part of the London Borough of Redbridge.
With regard to MACKROW and SISEMAN, the problem with unusual names is that
they are often mis-spelt in records and indexes. Ber prepared for MACROW,
MAKROW, MACROE, McCROW and son on, SIZEMAN, SIDESMAN, &c.
HTH
Cheers

first contact
> I am trying to do a family tree for my parents 60th wedding anniversary
in August. To that end I have been very fortunate to locate two relatives in
England and we are corresponding by email. I have gone from knowing zero
about my ancestors to having a 2x great grandfather.
> My question at the moment is: Is there a ST DAGENHAM church in
DAGENHAM, Essex County. I understand that DAGENHAM is now part of Greater
London, true or false?
> My family name on the paternal side is MAKCROW, a most unusual name I'm
sure you'll agree. I have information on my great grandfather as having been
born approx. 1855 in DAGENHAM. His father is given as John MAKCROW, but no
other information is available such as his mother's name.
> On the maternal side the name is SISEMAN. On this side I have been very
fortunate to find relatives who have done much of the work for me already.
One of them gave me this site as being a most useful one. I have been
watching the messages for two days now and have finally decided to jump in.
> My father emigrated with his family when he was just 7 months old and
has never been back to England (I think he's afraid to fly). His father was
in the reserves, living on Bergholt St. in Colchester. I understand he was
allowed to emigrate if he guaranteed to return if WW1 broke out and he did
return. He was in the Lord Strathcona Horse at the end of his service, and
he saw action in the BOER WAR. I am not sure if he was cavalry then or not.
> Anyone with any help, guidance or information will be deeply
appreciated.
