Dear all,
I wondered if anyone could help me locate one Harry BENSLEY who was born in c.1876 and died in Brighton in May, 1956. I have been lead to believe that he was at one time a councillor in Wivenhoe in Essex, and wondered whether anyone may have any records that would indicate when this was.
Harry was something of an eccentric, having walked across the world clad in an iron mask, so it may be that someone has an older relative from the Essex area that may recall him (it's a story that may stick in someone's mind!) or has come across him in a contemporary paper in the course of their own research, and filed him away out of curiosity. As you can imagine, this plea is really somewhat of a stab-in-the-dark - Harry's story is one that it is full of holes, and it would be wonderful just to be able to piece a little more of the tale together!
Yours (with fingers-crossed)
Marc Haynes
