Jeremiah HOY (1673-1741) married Martha BUTTON (1663-1740) circa 1700
somewhere?
There is a recorded marriage of Jeremiah HOY m 04 Oct 1700 at
Chesterford to Martha PATMAN. This is the only possibility found so far
as to Marthas surname, but I still feel it is BUTTON and I have missed
something - "Some Elmdon Familes" by Jean Robin has her as Martha BUTTON
one of the Buttons of Elmdon. I have a copy of Jeremiah HOY will of 1741
and no mention of wifes maiden name, but I haven't sighted will of Uncle
James Hoy's will of 1684 and do not know if his father Jeremiah
(1640-1705) left a will, but I would presume so as there was land in the
family.
I recently had a letter from a distant relation with a scribble
against her name
Born at Waltham Stowe. This person is quite aged and says they are not
interested in research anymore so I am left with this clue.
Is there anyone on the list with BUTTONS in Elmdon in this period.
Can anyone tell me where Waltham Stowe is situated geographically to
Elmdon.
Thanks for reading my Hoy data,
Kay Sturgeon Toowoomba Australia.
