Kevin Sutton asked if New England still exists. Indeed it does, it is a =
small island linked by bridges to Havengore Island to the SW and =
Foulness Island to the NE. Havengore is in turn linked to the Essex =
mainland. All these islands are closed to the general public, being =
owned by the War Department. I believe it is possible to obtain =
permission to visit. My Ordnance Survey map shows no buildings on the =
island today. I am searching ofr information about WADEs on Foulness =
Island, but would be glad to exchange news with anyone researching =
families on these islands.
