Years ago I sent a copy of the information below to the Suffolk FHS. I don't know if they ever printed it. I would be very interested to learn whether the name surname Rackham is connected to Essex in any way. The only other Rackham mariner that I can find is a John Rackham who was hanged as a pirate in Jamaica in 1720. I don't know where the great illustrator of children's books, Arthur Rackham, was born, but his father Thomas was the chief clerk in the office of the Admiralty and Serjeant of the Mace of the High Court of Jusice, definitely a middle class family. Could be a relative I suppose, but not likely. Any information on Palmers in Essex appreciated. This information was copied from an old family bible found in Vancouver.
