It will probably be of interest to a good many of you that the elusive
1851 Census 2% sample is still accessible in several places. Some
of you will know that the files were withdrawn from most sites in 1995.
One site among several which still have the files on-line is:
http://w3g.med.uni-giessen.de/CGB/genetxt/ukc_ess.arj?D
The URL will download the Essex files in a compressed .arj format file.
You will need UNARJ.EXE or similar to decompress the files.
For other counties just substitute the "ess" for the appropriate
Chapman county code, e.g. sfk, nfk, mdx, etc.
