Subject: The Millett Saga continues
Many would recall my, continuing search for my maternal g grandfather Henry Thomas Millett who eluded my every attempt, to nail him down. his marriage certificate to my g grandmother stated in 1892 that he was 25 leading me to believe that he was born c1866 which gives the age difference between the 2 as almost 11 years (she was a widow with three sons) I visited the church that was built on the site of the one they married in(the original was demolished courtesy of one Adolph Schicklegruber in the early 1940s) last September. Fortunately the Church records survived, so I was able to ascertain the names of his parents including his mothers` maiden name, and his date of birth 25/12/1866. So I thought I`ve got you now, you B**?%$@. Only to arrive home in October and on going through my collection of Certificates I found that I had already bought his sisters` birth certificate and she was born 1/6/1867 which meant that he wasn`t born at Christmas 1866 I then started to search for him again. and by chance I have found him, he lived his life as Henry Thomas, but he was born Thomas Henry, He even named his son Henry Thomas but he was born in 1868. Now I don`t know much about women so why on earth would my g grandmother marry a man nearly 14 years her junior.
Unfortunately I have not been as fortunate in trying to tie down his parents. The only census record I have have been able to find that seems to fit is in the 1881 census for Bromley St Leonards but the ages are wrong Henry is given as being 28(12) Fanny32(14) Lydia 72 and Thomas as 79 I have looked at this family several times over the years as it is the only one with the 4 names. Any ideas welcome Regards Joe Austen 10910 in oz
