A brilliant thought struck me - take a look in the IGI and there it is, a marriage for Lucy Cole & William WARD recorded in South Collingham Nottingham - so I guess my mystery is half solved. I would still be interested in how they derived the parish for that index. Now to take a look at the PR's for that area.

Just by chance, anyone have Lucy Cole & William Ward in their tree - it never hurts to ask!
