Thanks for the Altonah Cemetery link! I followed it (John George Engler is my 4th great grandfather). I had his years but not exact dates of death--nor had I ever seen his gravestone. His wife (according to what I have--Anna Maria Reiswig) appears not to have been buried there, though. His stone states that he had 6 sons & 5 daughters. In my genealogy data I have only 8 children listed, so obviously I'm missing some. I do have a pair of twins listed though: Born January 29, 1805. One is the Samuel Engler also buried at Altonah (at least the birthdate matched and now I have his death date & wife's name). The other twin in my data, though, is named George. This obviously is not the George buried at Altonah since the birth date differs. Maybe (and I have absolutely no proof of this) one of the twins died and, later on, they had another son & named him George as well. Don't know, as I say. My line of descent from John George, by the way, came through his eldest (as f!
ar as I know) son: Johannes Engler, born April 20, 1803. That individual married a woman named Mary Beaver and had several children--including both a Samuel (who was my great-great grandfather) & a George Engler born in 1834 & 1840 respectively. Apparently those were common names in the Engler line--my grandfather also was named Samuel (born 1896). Again, thanks for helping me add some details to my family tree. If you have or anyone has any further info on the twins, I'd love to hear it even though they're not in my direct line.
