My great grandfather - John HOLDEN wrote a book about his life and travels
which was published in 1886.

In the book he refers to "when I was a lad at school, at dear old Clapham
which I was sent to, to smarten me up a bit before I was presentable enough
to appear before my pater at the Athenaeum Club".

He was born in Worcester in 1844. Can anybody tell me if there is a school
called "Clapham" in Worcester, or is The school in a town called Clapham.
And has anybody heard of the Athenaeum Club?

Any help would be appreciated.
