Dear Bill,
This is the right family,
You have a query beside Francis May and I think it should be Fanny Way
- a girl born 13th August, 1855. The Way was the maiden name of
Clement's first wife who died some time before 1829 when Clement
married a second time, Louisa Chessell, whose children these are.
Clement Dear 1811-1899 did have a grocery business in the Isle of
Wight.
I can't think why Clement Francis Dear, who was the eldest child of
Clement Dear one, is not on the census but he would have been 9 years
old at the time and may have been away visiting relatives. The 1861
census was taken before the youngest child, James Richard Dear was
born in 1871.
What I need is a birth certificate of Clement Dear born 3rd April, 1811
so that I can get his parents full names - that is if they have been
recorded.
Much obliged for your help,
Lorraine
