From Alan Clarke and Marilyn Ponting's Northants Marriage Index, I see that William LIGHTFOOT of Nassington married Eliza Ann DESBROW of Woodnewton at Woodnewton on April 22 1833 (both previously unmarried).

I don't know if it is the same family, but there were some Lightfoots living in Stamford in the 1910/20s. I believe they were sisters (or possibly aunt and neice, or mother and duaghter) Emma and Louisa, and from the two (rather fuzzy) Box Brownie photographs in my family's possession, Emma looks as if she was in her 60s or 70s. One of them shows Emma with a dog called Victor (according to the writing on the back), and the other shows the two women sitting opposite my grandfather's shop in Maiden Lane, by St Michael's churchyard, dressed in long black dresses. I think they may have been members of the Plymouth Brethren denomination, which had a meeting room half-way down the street.

Returning to William and Ann, there is no Northamptonshire marriage which fits, so they were probably married out of county (Huntingdonshire/Lincolnshire?).

I'm having problems finding the marriages of William & Eliza and William
& Ann and wondered if anyone could point me
in the right direction? Also, the trail seems to dry up after the
baptism of Isaac Lightfoot (c1825). Does anyone know
where the family may have come from before this time please?
