Hi,

If you go to the freeBMD website at
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl and do a search for Joseph
Harding, select marriages and enter the dates from 1897 to 1897 you get a
result for Joseph Effingham Harding. Clicking on the page number link, gives
the following result.

Marriages Dec 1897
Harding Joseph Effingham Chorlton 8c 1081
HUGHES Sarah Jane Chorlton 8c 1081
Parker George Harry Chorlton 8c 1081
Tomlinson Margaret Chorlton 8c 1081

So Joseph Harding and Margaret Tomlinson are both registered in the same
volume and page. Whilst not conclusive proof one way or t'other until you
get the certificate, the chances are looking good that they did indeed get
married.

Hope this helps
Anne

I can't find any record of Joseph HARDING on this census or any record of
their marriage. I am assured by family members that they were married, but
who knows. I have checked Cheshire BMD, where the HARDINGs originated and
Wrexham Wales, where my grandfather was born, without any luck.Because of
their young age when their first child was born, I thought that maybe they
didn't have parental consent to be married. and left it until they were of
age. Does anyone have any ideas.I would really appreciate any suggestions on
this one.

"known as" Margaret HARDING or were they legally married. I wonder.
