Hello Ian,
Not sure whether this is of much help but I have found the family in 1871.
RG 10 1 Maria Place,Boundary St, Hulme.
William LOWE..H..M..32..Maker Up..Northwich
Mary..W..M..33..Ireland
Charlotte..D..U..13..Scholar..Manchester
William..11
Charles Henry..8
John ..6
Thomas Francis..4
Mary Emilia..1

I realise that there are differences with William and Mary's ages and also his birthplace, but the ages of John and Thomas fit in.

Regards,

UK

Hello, would someboby please be able to give me some advice.
I have found what appears to be my maternal 2xggrandparents and family on the 1881 census but to verify it I need to find them on the 1871 census.
Specifically, until this moment I have only been able to get back to my maternal ggrandmother when she married in 1879 and always presumed that she was born in Ireland due to the information she gave on the 1901 census. All I knew about her family was that her father was William LOWE and that his occupation in 1879 was Maker Up.
I have know found a William LOWE - Maker Up aged 47 and born in Middlewich, Cheshire on the 1881 census living at 13, Ogden Street, Hulme with his wife Mary and four sons, William, John, Thomas and James. All names that my ggrandmother gave to her children and which have come down through our family. My own father was John and I am Ian John. I had never thought to look for her birth on the GRO Index due to her saying that she was born in Ireland like her husband and at this moment in time I am unable to get out to do any research due to a mobilty problem.
Any help and advice will be much appreciated,
Ian Curran.
