Barbara, A lot of Indian Births, baptisms, marriages are online at
www.fibis.org (Families in British India Society) this is a free site. Some
Indian events were also published in the local English newspapers of the
19th century that are also on line.

Am a new member to this list and am researching the Green family who
originally came from Upton Magna, Shropshire and settled in Oldham and Lees.
One of my ancestors Edwin Green 1889 Oldham married a Mary Jane Muir who was
born 1879 in Shaw, Oldham, her father was a George Muir who according to the
census was born 1848 Merratin Province of Bengal, India, he married a Betty
Whitehead born 1839 Crompton.
 
Would anyone know how to find records of births for people born in India ? 
Have tried a few ideas but found nothing.
If there are any Green family descended from the Upton Magna Green's reading
this I would love to hear from you.
