Hello,

I have a Ruth CROPPER born c1772 in Bury.  She married Anthony TAYLOR on 2
April 1799 at Saint Marys, Bury
I think Ruth may have died by 1841. Anthony Taylor was living with his
daughter Rachel TAYLOR at Kettlewell, Yorkshire.

Ruth CROPPER and Anthony TAYLOR had Rachel TAYLOR 21 January 1800, Nancy
TAYLOR c1802 both Christened at Saint Mary, Bury and possibly a James TAYLOR

I would love to find the parents of Ruth CROPPER and also when she died, I
can seem to find her.

Many thanks for any help

Regards
Amanda

Hi, John,

Thanks for this note. The compilation I have was provided for me by a
colleague and is not a full compilation of all the records currently
available, but was made about three years ago from the records available to
him at that time.? It is particularly light on the records from the Parish
Church (St Mary the Virgin) of Bury and this is because these records are
indexed on the IGI.

I found the burial in the compilation of the first person you mentioned in
the Parish Church graveyard, but there was no indication of a gravestone. -

Edmund Cropper? of Bury? Buried? 26-Aug 1831 aged 71y [calc year of birth
1760]

If you have any more specific names I can check those, but there are about
200 CRAPPER / CROPPER entries

I hope this helps

Hi, John,

Thanks for the note and the list.  The first port of call for the period
after 1837 should be LancashireBMD (www.lancashirebmd.org.uk ). This is
younger than the sites that are based on the GRO Indexes, but the
information is more robust as it has been checked against the local
Registrar's registers - the originals!

The details for Bury are complete for Marriages to about 1900, are growing
for Births but are area dependent, and LancsBMD has Bury deaths to about
1860. The deaths all include age at death.

> Edmund's Wife Mary born sep 1756, she died between 1841 and 1849 i think,
Lancashire Death indexes for the years: 1849
Surname Forename(s) Age Sub-District Registers At Reference
CROPPER Mary 78 Bury North Bury BN/8/91

> Joseph Cropper their son born febuary 1794 died between 1841 and 1861,
Not found in LancsBMD nor in the compilation.

> sibling edmund junior died 1867, precise date would be good born 1790
out of LancsBMD Bury coverage and not found in compilation

> James born 1785 died after 1851,
Lancashire Death indexes for the years: 1851
Surname Forename(s) Age Sub-District Registers At Reference
CROPPER James 66 Heywood Rochdale H/13/13

The compilation shows a burial in St Mary (the Parish Church) graveyard -
James Cropper of Heywood  Buried 02-Nov 1851 age 66 [calc birth year 1785]

> Nathan Born Apr 1781
Lancashire Death indexes for the years: 1846
Surname Forename(s) Age Sub-District Registers At Reference
CROPPER Nathan 66 Bury North Bury BN/6/86

Silence Beardman/Boardman born 1783 and husband Robert, married in 1804
NO obvious matches in LancsBMD Bury
The compilation shows a burial in St Mary (the Parish Church) graveyard -
Silence Boardman wife of Robert of Bury  Buried 15-Sep 1825 age 42 [calc
birth year 1783]

> had daughter Sarah in 1804.
NOT found on LancsBMD Bury; or in compilation - ?married

> John cropper born 1787
NOT found on LancsBMD Bury; or in compilation

> had daughter rachel in 1810 who married william massey in 1858 i think,
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1858
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office
Registers At Reference
CROPPER Rachel MASSEY William Bury, St.Mary Bury CE7/18/90

> John's wife alice, Benjamin born apr 1796 died 1872,
confusing information - Benjamin??

Hope this helps
