Hello Elaine
I have not viewed the PRs or BTs at Hertford but I have viewed a good many
at my local LDS and as far as I know the films held at both are identical.
The quality of the original registers is highly variable. Some are badly
damaged The BTs are sometimes better and the typed transcriptions (where
they exist) by early and mid-20th c enthusiasts seem to me to be generally
very good. You may be lucky or maybe not ! Pot luck ! Searching the
transcriptions can be quick with indexes often available. Otherwise it can
be a slow process.
