Dear Ian,
I believe that your Lancelot Sumpton (1750-1819) married Jane Steele on
26/1/1777.
His father was also Lancelot (1703-1794) from Arlecdon and he married
Sarah Herd (1710-1789) at Arlecdon in 1736.
This Lancelot's father was also Lancelot (1662-1730). He was born in
Dean. He married Rebekah (maiden name unknown) (1668-1730) in Arlecdon in
1694, They are buried at St.Michael's, Arlecdon. They are ancestors of my
wife.
This Lancelot also had a father Lancelot (1618-1696) who was from Dean.
His wife was Eleanor (Elinor) - maiden name unknown.
For the generations beyond that see my reply to Christine.

I have very little detail on the descendants of your Lancelot
(1750-1819). I believe that he had a son William who married Mary Ashburner
and their daughter, Sarah, married Thomas Ponsonby at Ennerdale in 1829. If
you have any further details I would be delighted to hear about them.
