Herb,
I did not find many references to a Joseph Ellis, but here is what I found
in my Raleigh research:
1. In the vol. I Marriage Bonds, Groom, Index, Wake Co. Joseph Ellis to
Kilby Wood, 29 Jul, 1815,; Bondsman--Charles-x-Segraves, witnessed by B. S.
King.
2. In the Wake Co. Court Minutes, Book A-l, (1777-1776) #27-7, Jacob and
Joseph Ellis (and other non-Ellises) are to work under John James to oversee
the road from Marks Creek to Capt. John Hinton's on the Neuse River.
That was all I found on him Hope that helps. Have you found anything on
either Hicks or Ezekiel Ellis?
Charles
