I have an Alfred P. Eller, b. 1843 (in Watauga County, NC) and his son, Alfred L. Eller, b. July 1891. I have no more info on Alfreds' line... My line includes James Frank Eller, Alfred P. Eller's brother. They are the children of Priscilla Lucretia Elller (unwed). Her parents are Conrod Eller and Mary Eller. The line goes like this:

CONROD ELLER LINE:

1. Matthes Eller, b. 1585, Koenigsburg, East Prussia, Germany, m. Unknown

2. Johann Eller, b. August 27, 1611, Koenigsburg, East Prussia, Germany, m. Anna Barbara Starzig, abt. February 09, 1634/35.

3. Johann Adam Valantin Eller, b. 1636, Koenigsburg, East Prussia, Germany, m. Margarete Gerbert, 1659, (b. abt. 1638, Planen, Vogtland).

4. Casper Eller, b. abt. 1694, Untermerzbach, U, Bavaria, Germany, m. Unknown

5. John Melchoir (Melker) Eller, b. abt. 1736, Untermerzbach, U, Bavaria, Germany (IMMIGRANT), m. Elizabeth Maria Ketchey.

6. Conrod (pro: Coonrod) Eller, b. abt. 1794, m. Mary Eller, Aug 8, 1820 (b. 1799, Rowan County, NC; d. bef. 1841, see her line below).

MARY ELLER LINE:

1. Matthes Eller, b. 1585, Koenigsburg, East Prussia, Germany, m. Unknown

2. Johann Eller, b. August 27, 1611, Koenigsburg, East Prussia, Germany, m. Anna Barbara Starzig, abt. February 09, 1634/35.

3. Johann Adam Valantin Eller, b. 1636, Koenigsburg, East Prussia, Germany, m. Margarete Gerbert, 1659, (b. abt. 1638, Planen, Vogtland).

4. Casper Eller, b. abt. 1694, Untermerzbach, U, Bavaria, Germany, m. Unknown

5. John Jacob Eller, b. Abt. 1715, Untermerzbach, U, Bavaria, Germany, d. 1782, Rowan County, NC (IMMIGRANT), m. Maria Eva KETCHEY, December 11, 1753, St Paul's Lutheran Church, Montgomery County, PA (b. August 17, 1732, The Palatinate, Germany, d. Abt. 1770, Rowan County, NC)

6. Frederick Eller, b. 1757, Rowan County, NC, d. 1832, Rowan County, NC, m. Unknown

7. Henry Eller, b. abt. 1775, Rowan County, NC, d. bef. November 05, 1805, Rowan County, NC, m. Mammie McCubbin (d. February 15, 1812, Rowan County, NC)

8. Mary Eller, b. 1799, Rowan County, NC, d. bef. 1841, m. Conrod Eller, Aug 8, 1820 (b. abt. 1794)

Conrod and Mary were 1st cousins twice removed. The 1840 Census shows Coonrod Eller in Wilkes County, NC, with 3 sons and 5 daughters and no wife. Mary must have died before 1840.

My line continues as... (Conrod's line-paternal)

7. Priscilla Lucretia Eller (unwed) (ALFRED P. ELLER'S MOTHER) , b. 1821, Watauga County, NC.

8. Rev. James Frank Eller (ALFRED P. ELLER'S BROTHER) (pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Ferguson, NC at death), b. February 1846, Watauga County, NC, d. July 15, 1907, Wilkes County, NC, m. Delila Faye Minton, January 01, 1862, Wilkes County, NC (b. October 14, 1845, Wilkes County, NC, d. August 20, 1890, Wilkes County, NC.)

9. Joseph Alec Eller, b. 1865, Wilkes County, NC, m. Susan Evelyn Eller (George Michael Eller Line IMMIGRANT), daughter of Henry Cleveland Eller), (b. April 09, 1866, Wilkes County, NC, d. February 18, 1954, Wilkes County, NC)

10. Benjamin Harrison Eller, b. March 16, 1889, Wilkes County, NC, d. January 07, 1962, Wilkes County, NC, m. Leona Minton, (b. May 01, 1889, Wilkes County, NC, d. August 21, 1974, Wilkes County, NC). Leona Minton was the daughter of Purvis Minton and Madeline Adeline Eller. Harrison and Leona were 2nd cousins, once removed. Relationship established through Madeline Eller and Susan Evelyn Eller, both of the George Michael Eller line.)

11. Benjamin Lawrence Eller (Sr.)

12. Benjamin Lawrence Eller, Jr. (ME)

13. Benjamin Lawrence Eller III (My Son)

Thus, I am related to 3 different Eller immigrants. If you are descendent of Conrod and Mary Eller you are at a minimum related to 2 different Eller immigrants, John Jacob Eller & John Mechoir Eller. The information about Conrod being with family in 1829 is quite possible. It is a family folklore that Conrod was quite a lady's man and caroused quite a bit. It was thought that he married again and raised a second family, but no proof exists. It is possible that both Mary and a second wife died in child birth, giving reason why he was back in Wilkes County in 1840 without a wife and raising children. Many Eller wives died giving birth in the 1700's and 1800's.

Just a little plug for the Eller Family Association. This association is hoping to draw more folks into the fold this next 2 years before we meet again in Lancaster, PA in 2003, our families first home in the New World. In 2002 we are going to have an EFA sponsored Genealogy Workshop in Salt Lake City, UT. Catherine Eller Stoker was one of the first Mormons and the granddaughter of immigrant George Michael Eller. This has opened the door for us to use the LDS' full resources. Catherine's descendant, Devon Dahl, is an EFA member and a beta test leader for all LDS resources in Utah. Devon spoke to us about his work at the conference last week in Salisbury. We also have folks working for us in Germany, Austria and Norway to work on our European ancestory. It's an exciting time for the Eller family...our world is getting very small right now as we learn of our deep, proud heritage. You may want to visit our temporary EFA page for more info if you are not already involv!
