I am looking for Matilda Eller b. ABT 1827-1835 that married John H. Shaw b.1824. They moved to Hawkins Co. TN, then to Hancock Co. TN. I find them in the 1860 Hawkins Co. TN census, then the 1880 Hancock Co. TN census. Matilda died before 1900, as John is living with their daughter Sarah and family.In the 1860 census: John, age: 37 VA, Matilda, age: 33 VA, Rebecca, age: 15 VA, Robert age: 13 VA, James, age 8 TN, & John, age: 3 TN.
In the 1880 census, John, age: 58, Matilda, age: 42
John M., b. 1857,TN listed as "idiotic" and has a disease
Mary R., b. 1862,TN
Sarah, b. 1864,TN
Jacob A.,b. 1867,TN
William H., b. 1869,TN
Eliza P., b. 1873,TN (the P could be for Paralee)
By 1880,Rebecca, Robert & James were already married & had families of their own.
In both census', Matilda & John list their birth place as VA, and that of their parents, also. I'm guessing that John was married before, so Matilda would not be the mother of Rebecca & Robert.
Does anyone know anything about this Matilda Eller? Please help me if you do! Thanks.
